The UK's most Swingin' Singin' Piano player.   In one phrase - "T J Johnson reaches people".   Whether he's singing dirty lowdown blues, swinging your socks off or soothing your heart with a plaintive ballad, there is one thing for sure, you won't escape the reach of his stylish charm.  T J is widely considered to be one of the UK's most charismatic, highly revered jazz and blues singer.


The Sopranos (Chris Pearce & Andy Leggatt) - Friday 17th April 2020 - CANCELLED

The Sopranos were formed in 2014 and play a wide variety of swinging jazz in the style made popular by Sidney Bechet, Jimmie Noone and Bob Wilber.


SwingZing (Jeremy Huggett) - Friday 29th May 2020 - CANCELLED

SwingZing captures the Jump, Jive & Swing sounds of the 40s and 50s including Louis Prima, Louis Jordan, Fats Domino & Nina Simone to name but a few.   The band features the vocal talents of one of the UK's rising stars, Sarah Meek and some of the UK's top musicians - Jeremy Huggett on tenor & baritone saxes/vocals, Kevin Grenfell on trombone/Vocals, Gethin Liddington on trumpet/vocals, Richard West on piano/organ, Federico Leonori on bass and Eddie John on drums. The exciting, lively sound and the versatility of the band is appealing to audiences of all ages make SwingZing one of the most popular bands in the UK.


The Brian White & Alan Gresty Ragtimers - Friday 26th June 2020 - CANCELLED

This is a much in demand band playing the small group Dixieland of the Condon era.   The band was formed in 1985 initially to pay tribute to the great Muggsy Spanier.   Since then they included the music of Bob Crosby, Eddie Condon, Bud Freeman et al - in short the golden age of Dixieland.   Led by Alan on trumpet and Brian on clarinet, the band combines exhilarating ensemble play with fine solo work.

Chris Walker's Pedigree Jazz Band - Friday 21st August 2020 - CANCELLED

Chris Walker has for over 30 years presented a weekly radio Jazz Programme broadcast by radio stations all over the world and is also a very fine musician.   A while ago he decided to get back to his roots and recreate the hit tunes of the 50s and 60s.   To do this he formed The Pedigree Jazz Band.  The band has proved to be a resounding success so don't miss out on this great show and their salute to traditional jazz.

The "One Off" Jazz Band

The band has been put together by Brian and March Frith for this one off occasion. They
chose the musicians and the name. 

 Line up: 

Graham Hughes on trombone

Jools Aldridge on drums

Jim Swinnerton on bass

Graham Hughes runs The Sunshine Kings and Brass Volcanoes bands, and plays with several other
bands as well as a featured artist at a number of festivals over the years. Graham has 
been appearing at Runnymede club for over 15 years. 

Michel McQuaid made a name for himself on the international vintage jazz circuit with
his band leading, arranging and performing while living in Australia. He moved to London about three years ago and had rapidly established himself on the scene here.

Sarah Spencer has lived her life with one foot in New Orleans and one in the UK, and
lives and breathes New Orleans music through her saxophone. She counts as
friends many of the great New Orleans musicians.

Tony Pitt is one of the legends of British Trad jazz, having been a member of the
bands of Kenny Ball, Alex Welsh, Acker Bilk, and many others.
Jools (aka 'Baby Jools') Aldridge runs his own band The Jazzaholics that performs the length
and breadth of the UK and all over Europe.

Jim Swinnerton plays with The Jazzaholics and has toured with 'The Million Dollar
Quartet', a show about the life of Elvis Presley. 

All these well known musicians will perform together for one night only at Runnymede!
